Starting tomorrow the California Department of Public is requiring mandatory mask wearing in all indoor public spaces across California. The new requirement means masks must be worn irrespective of some ones vaccine status.
The new requirement at the moment is for one month from December 15th until January 15th 2022. The new requirement is in response to the new Omicron variant which was announced over Thanksgiving in South Africa but is spreading rapidly around the world.
Orange Counties hospitalization rate as well as positivity rate has leveled out since Thanksgiving; Although with the Winter weather sickness as well as infection rates could increase. The new mandate is bad news for businesses across the county as well as employees who have to enforce the mask mandate. Hopefully the new mandate doesn’t stay around long term as the prospect of entering a third year of masks and restrictions doesn’t make anyone happy.
