January 28th 2023: Since the NFL’s Chargers planed to depart from San Diego for the new So Fi Stadium in Inglewood near Los Angeles they needed a new training facility fairly close. So in 2017 the team signed a new ten year lease in Costa Mesa for a new football training center with its cooperate headquarters as well as training camp.
The facility in Costa Mesa is about 43 miles south So Fi Stadium in what was a former office space. The team had the first floor of the building gutted to make room for the team rooms with the remodel of the building costing more than $3.8 million. At the time the team said it was an upgrade from their previous facilities.
The Los Angeles Chargers Training Center will be in Costa Mesa until 2024 when the team moves up the 405 for a new purpose built facility in El Segundo.
