June 6th 2023: If you were hoping that Nick’s Pizza in Costa Mesa might reopen at some point after its extended closure, i do have some bad news for you; Last week as you can see in the picture below the sign on the building was removed. Some people were hoping with the sign still on the building and, items inside that it might still return.
There has been people emailing me about them wanting to set up a Go Fund Me page for the owners but no message on the door of the restaurant or notice about whats happening on their website. Hopefully at some point the owners will be able to open another place somewhere in Costa Mesa if thats what they desire.
Thanks for the info! Sad to see Nicks close.

My wife was Nicks first customer in 1968 Moon just arrived in USA from Japan to attend Vanguard College in Costa Mesa and UCI Her new roommate took her for the opening. when I started dating Moon in Thr Grade school Cal State Fullerton she declared Nicks as the best as I cheered for pizza from my hometown New York CityMoon was correct We dated there nearly every Saturday Nick and his wife went to big Edward’s in Newport to see the Godfather Mr Edward who ate at Nicks even thou he had his own pizza at his theater had the usher bring Nick to sit in the projector room because he kept translating the Sicilian spoken before the written translation hit the screen When Nick found out my now wife Moon and I were going to the show he took off his aporin off and invited himself
It was our first date after our first child was born We we’re taking Caroline to the babysitter and Nick asked if she was baptize yet we said no and he washed off the flour on his hands took the water and olive oil from the table and became Kiki’s Godfather as he baptized her Then we left the baby with his daughter and son and went to the movie Nick grew his own vegetables at his own farm in Timceula and turned the business over to his son and daughter the retired to make wine and grow pistachios I moved for business a have not had a chance to investigate the closure Nick and wife’s heart was broken when he brought his nephew from Sicily to open a second location in Corona Del Mar With his ne found wealth his Nephew bought a sports car and died in a car crash in Sicily
