March 8th 2024: The City Of Costa Mesa Public works department that it has received a grant from CalRecyle in the amount of $295,972; The grant is to help the city comply with a new organic waste law. The new law by the State of California requires jurisdictions across the state to make changes in waste disposal and recycling habits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The grant money will be used on a variety of new requirements such as edible food recovery, education, management of organic material, procurement as well as the maintenance of the cities records.
